Representative Dwight Scharnhorst, a Republican, represents District 93 of St. Louis County in the Missouri House of Representatives. Elected to the House in 2006, Representative Scharnhorst is a professional photographer and owner of Scharnhorst Photography Limited located in St. Louis County. Representative Scharnhorst has owned and operated his own small business for the past thirty years. Previously he worked as a retail manager from 1965-1980.

In addition to his legislative duties, Representative Scharnhorst is a past President and current advisory board member of the Rockwood School's Foundation in addition to being a member of Rockwood School's District Facilities Committee. He is a member of the Fenton Chamber of Commerce, St. Louis County Elks, a former member of West St. Louis County LionŐs Club, where he served as chairman of the "Campaign for Sight" fund drive. Representative Scharnhorst also served as President (3years) and as a board member (8years) of the Eureka Chamber of Commerce. At conclusion of his term as President of the Eureka Chamber of Commerce, Representative Scharnhorst was recognized by the city of Eureka with a proclamation citing his successful efforts to improve the business/government climate in the Eureka community.

During the 93rd General Assembly, Representative Scharnhorst successfully attached amendments to Jessica's Law and the Eminent Domain reform bill, HB1944, during the passage of each bill by the Missouri House of Representatives.

Representative Scharnhorst is a 1966 graduate of Northwest High School in Jefferson County, attended Jefferson College from 1966-1967 and Meramec Community College from 1989-1991.

Born November 11, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, Representative Scharnhorst lives in St. Louis County with his companion and "master of the house" a Border collie named Sadie. He has a grown son, Ryan and two grandsons, Bryce, deceased, and Cade Scharnhorst. Cade keeps his "pa-pa" busy watching him play such sports as t-ball and soccer, and an occasional hockey game with his pa-pa in the garage. When Dwight has free time, and is not with Cade, he likes to bird hunt, bass fish, plays golf with friends and is a fan of all St. Louis amateur and professional sports.
